Zacharia J. Tate, a Civil War Veteran came to Republic County and homesteaded the southwest ¼ of Section Twenty in Lincoln Township. W. O. Tate came with his father and stepmother to their homestead when he was about twelve years old.
W.O. Tate was married to Miss Evelyn Towers and to them were born three children: Mary, Della, and Charles.
Evelyn Tate passed on. Mr. Tate's second wife was Miss Polly Allen. They were the parents of Lester (deceased) and Rose. Mr. Tate purchased a farm in Norway Township in Section 2.
Lester married Sadie, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Decker. They reared one son, Leslie.
Leslie and Bernice Tate are the parents of one son and three daughters. Leslie and his family and his mother, Mrs Sadie Tate, all live in Norway Township.
