CHILDREN OF QUINCY AND BETTY GAULDIN BLOSSER

These children were born to Quincy and Betty Blosser: Vivian, born November 24, 1890, who married Ralph Dining.  She was deceased July 24, 1957.  Nadine, March 13, 1892, who married Walter F. Whitebread; May Belle, August 7, 1893, who married Mordecai C. Chambers; Charles, Sept. 7, 1895, who married Elizabeth Ann Collins; Martin, July 22, 1897, who married Ruby R. Norris; and Loyd, December 10, 1899, who married Bess Potter.  Mr. and Mrs. Blosser reared a nephew, Quincy Gauldin Blosser, who was born February 27, 1905, deceased September 30, 1937.

The following history was received from the family.  Vivian Blosser and her husband Ralph Dinning lived in Green River, Utah, where they operated a lumber yard.  They were members of the Presbyterian Church and were very active in all civic enterprises.  She was twice past matron of the Eastern Star and was a grand officer of the Grand Chapter of Utah.  Ralph is a past Patron of the Eastern Star.  In 1950, they moved to Concordia to be with her parents.  They operated the Shady Lake Motel of which they were co-owners, until her death July 24, 1957.  Ralph resides in Concordia, Kansas.

Nadine. second daughter of Quincy and Betty Blosser ,came to Kansas from Missouri with her parents in a covered wagon in 1899.  After residing with her parents in Norway a year she returned to Missouri.  In 1906 she came with the rest of the family to Norway to make their home.  She received her education at the Norway public school and Concordia High School.  She graduated from Lexington Baptist College, Lexington, Missouri.  In  1916, she spent a year studying art in New York City.

In 1920, she moved with her parents to Concordia.  She is a member of the E.U.B. Church of Concordia, O.E.S. of which she is a past Matron.  On February 6, 1924, she was married to Walter Whitebread of Concordia, son of Alexander and Mary Jane Whitebread.  He attended school in Glasco, Kansas.  He was in the grocery business for thirteen years.  Later, he was manager of the Blosser Chevrolet Motor Company.  Mr. Whitebread is a World War Veteran and served overseas.  He is a member of the American Legion Club, Masonic Lodge, and Charter Member of World War I Barracks Club.

They own the land from which Gust Nelson took a corner in 1879, and donated for the original townsite of Elgo or Norway.

In 1948, the Whitebreads, the Charles and Loyd Blossers, built the Skyliner.  Mr. and Mrs. Whitebread were managers of the Skyliner Motel from 1948 to 1960, when they retired and purchased a home in Concordia.

Maybelle attended school at Norway and graduated from the Concordia High School.  She also graduated from the Lexington Baptist College in Lexington, Missouri.  Maybelle was married to Mordecai Chambers in  1917.  He was a graduate of Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, Missouri and was a captain in the U. S. Marines in the First World War.

They reared five children: Charles Benton is a major in the U. S. Marines and has served twenty years which includes both World War II and the Korean War.  He married Miss Phyllis Clark of Des Moines, Iowa and they have four sons.  They live in Santa Ana, California; Betty Jane married Lieutenant Fred M. Hart of Buffalo, Wyoming.  He served overseas during World War II.  Fred is a captain of Frontier Activities and lives in Billings, Montana; Glenn C. married Mary Jane Gott.  He served in the United States Navy in World War II.  They have one daughter and two sons.  The daughter is now a Wave.  They live in Salon, Iowa; Mordecai, Junior served in the United States Marines.  He is now in Merchant Marines and lives in LaGuma Beach, California; James L. served in the United States marines.  he lives in Malta Bend, Missouri.

Charles H. Blosser owns and operates over 2500 acres of land in Republic and Cloud Counties, extensive rental real estate, oil interests, The Skyliner Steak House, Blosser Motor and Boat Company, Blosser Airport, Co-owner of Skyliner Motel and Shady Lake Motel of Concordia, Kansas, also co-owner of the motel Bel Villa and Bel-Villa Restaurant of Belleville, Kansas.

He is a member of the Presbyterian Church, Mason Lodge, 32nd Degree Mason, Isis Shrine, Elks Lodge, Charter Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, The Barracks Club of which hs is commander and is helping organize, and president of the Cabin Site Organization of Lovewell Reserve.  He lives in Concordia, Kansas.

Martin Blosser came to Kansas with his parents from Missouri in 1906.  He graduated from Norway High School and attended Grand Island Business College in Grand Island, Nebraska, and K.S.A.C. in Manhattan, Kansas.  He married Ruby Norris, daughter of Arthur and Ollie Norris in April 1922.  Ruby, after finishing high school at Norway, taught in the consolidated school at Norway and at Fairview District 93.

They moved to Concordia where Martin was employed in the Cloud County Bank.  Later the Martin Blossers moved to Norway where they were engaged in farming.  A daughter, Alice was born in 1923.  In 1928 they moved to James town where Martin bought and operated the Chevrolet garage.  He then purchased the Chevrolet garage at Belleville and moved there.  Alice graduated from the Belleville High School and attended college at Lindsborg,

In 1942, Martin sold the garage in Belleville and moved back to Jamestown.  Since then he has cared for their farms and rental properties.  He was mayor of Jamestown for six years.  He is a member of the Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge, the IOOF, and the Lions Club.

In 1945, Alice married Andy Wagner of Baltimore, Ohio.  Andy served in the Air Corps overseas during World War II.  They had two daughters, Andrea Sue, who died in infancy, and Kay Annette, who is in school in Baltimore, Ohio, where they live.
