MR. AND MRS. HANS A. HANSEN AND CLAUDE

Hans A. Hansen was born in Denmark, Europe, and came to Chicago, Illinois, when a young man.  He was a skilled cabinet maker in Denmark.  After serving in the Unites States Armed Forces, he came to Norway Township when released from the army.

He purchased his first farm, the southwest quarter of Section 32 from S. A. McCall in 1880.  He was a successful farmer.  Mrs. Hansen was a highly educated woman, who spoke several languages and was a musician.  They had one son, Claude, interested in farming and stock raising and in all affairs for the benefit of teh community.  Claude represented Republic and Cloud Counties in the Kansas Senate in 1930.

Hans A. Hansen died in 1908.  Mrs. Hansen died in 1931 and Senator Hansen a few years later.
