CHARLES HENRY BLOSSER

Charles Henry Blosser was born in Malt Bend, Missouri, September 7, 1895, son of Quincy and Betty (Gauldin) Blosser.  Charles Henry attended school in Norway, Kansas, and high school in Concordia, Kansas.  He was a student in Kansas State College in Manhattan, Kansas, when he enlisted in the United States Army.

In 1920 Mr. Blosser started in the automobile business with one small sales room in Belleville, Kansas.  He also operated the Blosser Flying service and owned and piloted one of the first aeroplanes in the state.

On October 20, 1921 he was married to Isabel Ann Collins, at Belleville, Kansas.  Mrs. Blosser was born there, daughter of Frank B. and Pearl (Sherman) Collins.  Her grandfather homesteaded in Republic County, Kansas, and hauled lumber and material from Belvidere, Nebraska, to build the Presbyterian Chruch in Belleville, Kansas.

A Republican, Mr. Blosser was elected mayor of Concordia, Kansas in April 1931, defeating his opponent by a majority of four to one.  He is a member of the Presbyterian Church, the Masons (Consistory) and Shrine, and the Elks Lodge.

In September 1917, he enlisted in the United States Army for service in the First World War.  He trained at Camp Pike, Little Rock, Arkansas, and in July, 1918, went overseas with the 87th Division where he served until February 1919.

In the 1935 flood of the Republican River he was credited for saving many lives by flying over the flooded area and locating many who needed help to get to safety.

He is co-owner of the Skyliner Motel, Shady Lake Court in Concordia, Kansas, and the Bel villa Motel and Restaurant in Belleville, Kansas.

He now lives in Concordia, Kansas, where he owns and operates The Blosser Motor and Boat Company, supervises his farms, rentals and the Skyliner Steak House.
