HENRY L. DUTTON

Henry L. Dutton was the son of Chester Dutton who was a very early settler and homesteaded in Cloud County.  He was born in Wolcat, New York in 1854 and came to Kansas with his parents in 1868 where he grew to manhood.  He had a homestead in Norway Township. He was united in marriage to Lucy Dickerhoof in 1875.  She was a pioneer school teacher in Republic County, the daughter of George Mary Ann Brewer Dickerhoof and was born in Clear Sprint, Maryland in 1856, coming to Kansas in 1872.

Mr. and Mrs. Dutton reared three sons and three daughters; Minnie, who married Wm. Brewer; Lucy, who married Frank Crosson; Mabel; Harry, who married Ada McCulloch; Fred, who married Olga Dutton and George who married Doris Snyder.

Henry served in the Militia organized in the early seventies for protection against the Indians.  He was a large land owner and a successful farmer.  He was the first member initiated into the Elks Lodge at Concordia.  He passed on in 1922 at the age of 67 years.

1.  Minnie and W. E. Brewer had five daughters and three sons.

2.  Lucy (deceased) and Frank Crosson, three sons and two daughters, Eugene, Lawrence, Robert, Vera, and Della.

3.  Fred and Olga Dutton two sons and one daughter, Fred Jr. who made the supreme sacrifice in World War II, Richard and Dorathy.

4.  Harry and Ada Dutton (deceased), two sons, Orville and Oren.

5.  George and Doris Dutton;  two sons, George and Charles.

6.  Mable Jane who lives on Route 2, Concordia.
