FIRES IN NORWAY

Norway has had several disastrous fires.  In October 1904 Frank Dickerhoof's store building on Lot 1 on the west side of the street was burned to the ground.  On the first floor he had a general merchandise store with a storeroom at the back and basement below.  Above at the front a four room apartment and at the back the Odd Fellows Hall was located.  On the north side there was an outside stairway to the hall and on the south side one to the apartment.

In 1920 G. W. Wright's hardware store, hotel and garage also at the north end of the street were completely destroyed by fire.  The hardware and living quarters were rebuilt.

The building where Cecil Dickerhoof's Grocery is located and with the Odd Fellows hall above was burned down.  This building was rebuilt.

The Medlin home south of the EUB Church was burned to the ground.  This was replaced by another home.
