In 1961, my Great-Grandmother's Sister-in-law, Madge Bischoff Dickerhoof, wrote "THIS IS A STORY of NORWAY VILLAGE and NORWAY TOWNSHIP in REPUBLIC COUNTY, KANSAS from 1869 to 1961". My copy has some damage, but this blog is an effort to transcribe the text as accurately as possible (including embedded flaws), and make it available to other members of our family...however distant.

MR. AND MRS. HENRY LAX
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lax came from Norway in Europe to Norway Township and lived west of the river until 1910 when they moved to Kackley. They reared three sons and one daughter, Harvey, Gus, Phillip and Louise. Louise married one of the Rogders boys. Harvey, Gus and Phillip spent many years in California and in the gold mines of Northwestern Canada and Alaska. The family is all deceased. Mr. Lax died in 1914, and Mrs. Lax lived to the age of 93. Alba Rodgers married Alfred Paulsen. She is a granddaughter of Henry Lax, and they live in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Mr. Lax was always a farmer.
